Is it worth pursuing a volleyball scholarship? Are there enough teams and scholarships to make it worthwhile? Absolutely. In the NCAA there are 1,165 men's volleyball players and 13,282 women's volleyball players each year. And that's not even counting the NAIA and Junior Colleges.
Each of the 22 Division I and the 17 Division II men's teams can offer 4.5 scholarships. None of the 41 Division III men's volleyball teams can offer athletic scholarships, but it's common for them to offer non-volleyball-related financial aid packages to volleyball players the coach wants to recruit.
The numb
ers are much higher for women. Each of the 312 Division I women's volleyball teams can offer 12.0 scholarships. Each of the 265 Division II women's teams can offer 8.0 scholarships. None of the 411 Division III women's volleyball teams can offer athletic scholarships, but it's common for them to offer non-volleyball-related financial aid packages to volleyball players the coach wants to recruit
